Greetings from the President, Rich Weglinski…

As I begin my third and final year as President I would like to thank our Board of Directors for their efforts and dedication over the past year. We have had a busy year with some of the highlights being:

  • Holding our Annual Association Tournament for the first time in a bowling center outside of the local association. With only one center in our local association the board took a chance on going outside our boundaries to try another venue and see how the bowlers would respond. Entries were slightly down but overall the response to change was positive.
  • The Local Awards program was introduced 2 year ago. A handful of secretaries submitted paperwork last year but we still need to get others aboard with this program. I ask that all secretaries review the information supplied in your league kits regarding the program and submit paperwork in a timely fashion during the season.
  • Our Youth program, led by a host of dedicated volunteers, continues to prosper. They have a wonderful program in place that is maintained through sponsorships. If you would like to make a donation, please see Chris Forry in the pro shop.
  • Communications is a very important vehicle in pushing information to our bowlers. Through the efforts of Robert Page, we continue to utilize Facebook, a website and newsletters generated via email blasts to communicate with our bowlers.

We will be welcoming Kelly LaValle as our new manager for the 2016-17. John LaValle stepped down but will still be serving on the board as a director. I would like to thank John for his years of service to the Association and wish him well going forward.

In closing, I would like to acknowledge Nutmeg Bowl and their employees for their continued support and all league officers, coaches and volunteers for their time and dedication. If you have any questions or concerns I am always available and may be reached by email president@fcusbc.org or phone 203-290-5947.
